Sweet little sentiments

Happy-filled thoughts

Oh why couldn’t I see?

It was all for naught?

It was wonderful while it lasted

But now it’s in the past

You see, I should have know from the start

That dreams like this don’t last


Thank you for showing me happiness

When you made me smile every day

Even just the thought of you

Made my day brighter in every way

So if you gave me nothing else

I thank you for this

Sorrow overcame me

My thoughts were of you

It seems so obvious now

That your love was never true

But it’s true what they say

Pain like this just makes me stronger

Although I was hurt for a while

You don’t control me any longer!


Thank you for showing me sadness

When you ripped my heart in two

While I’ve managed to tape it back together

You took a piece with you

So if you gave me nothing else

I thank you for this

So now, I’m moving on

I can’t focus on this anymore

This past is dragging me down

So I’m simply closing the door

This chapter in my life changed me

I’d like to think for the best

I’ll remember our good times

And forgive you for the rest
